Athletistic/ Figure Skating. As previously reported, the ISU management decided not to invite Anna Shcherbakova to the skating awards ceremony.
International Skating Union officials argued their decision in the interest of a Russian athlete’s safety.
State Duma Deputy Svetlana Zhurova made it clear that she considers the ISU’s arguments untenable.
“I want to say an unparliamentary word, these are all excuses. They just couldn’t allow the Russian athletes to be rewarded and came up with a far-fetched reason. Why can tennis players be protected, but not tennis players? skaters? If they think that some kind of attack can be made against her, could give her bodyguards,” Zhurova was quoted as saying by TASS.
