Gvozdyk: If I can’t beat Miranda, I don’t think my return is a good idea

There is no underestimation of the opponent

Former World Light Heavyweight Champion Alexander Gvozdyk (17-1, 14 KOs) commented on the fight with the Argentine Jorge Miranda (58-21, 22 KOs).

“I was preparing for the return from sparring with Ramirez, but the dates were constantly postponed. Therefore, now I will be completely happy only when I find myself in the ring.

“I was preparing for a 10-round battle, but as it turned out, it was not so easy to pick up an opponent, because the prospects do not want, and the journeymen want a lot of money. Therefore, they chose from what is. I wanted to finally complete this sluggish and protracted six-month camp. On the other hand, maybe it’s good that it’s like this: after all, there is more than a three-year break, it would be good to get a feel for the ring before big challenges.”

“I work with the first coach, Marco Contreras. He helps me organize the fight as Eddie Reinoso’s manager, I plan to work with him in the future.

“Regarding Miranda, I am not going to underestimate anyone, but I will also throw fluff on. I will try to get through as many rounds as possible with him. But if I have problems with him, then perhaps returning is not a good idea at all.”

The fight between Gvozdyk and Miranda will take place on February 11 in Pomona, California (USA) at TM Boxing and MarvNation Promotions.

In 2018, Gvozdyk became the world champion by defeating Adonis Stevenson. After that, Alexander had one successful title defense.

The Ukrainian fought his last fight in the fall of 2019, losing to Artur Beterbiev by technical knockout in the tenth round. In 2020, Alexander ended his career.
