Zhurova on the case of Valieva: “Before, such stories did not come out in the public space”

Athletistic/ Figure Skating. During the Beijing Winter Olympics in February 2022, it became known that in December 2021, Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva passed a positive doping test. The investigation against him is still incomplete. This was stated by Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Svetlana Zhurova.

– In general, practice has shown that cases like those of Valieva are treated from three to eight months. But it was like that before, until politics started to interfere in everything. At that point, as the proceedings unfolded, the athlete was suspended. Valieva’s case is unique. She is a minor. We are talking about a microdose of a substance that has entered the body. Previously, to be honest with you, such stories did not come out in the public space, – Zhurova is quoted as saying by RB Sport.
