The President of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach, continues to support the aggressor country.
It seems that the International Olympic Committee has finally sided with Russia and will return its athletes to international competitions. Moreover, the IOC decided to punish Ukrainian athletes if they refused to compete with the aggressors.
So the president of the organization, Thomas Bach, indicated that a possible boycott of the 2024 Olympics by the “blue-yellow” team could cost our athletes a lot. This was reported by a German journalist Come Seppeltbased on a letter from Bach to the president of the National Olympic Committee, Vadim Gutzeit.
“The threat of a boycott of the Olympic Games, which, according to your information, is now being considered by the NOC of Ukraine, goes against the foundations of the Olympic movement and the principles we stand for. In this regard, the NOC of Ukraine certainly does not have the support or solidarity of most of the participants in the Olympic movement. And as history has shown, previous boycotts have not achieved their political goals and have only served to punish the athletes who boycotted the NOCs ,” wrote Bach.
The President of the IOC is also not satisfied that Ukraine did not accept all the conditions imposed by his organization, but continues to resist the lifting of sanctions against the Russians and Belarusians. In addition, Ukraine has already sent its position to other states, which, according to the functionary, puts pressure on them.
Bach emphasized that the withdrawal of athletes from the aggressor countries from the Olympic Games would be discrimination against them, and it does not correspond to the principles of the international Olympic movement. He also recalled that the UN Human Rights Council also spoke against such a ban.
At the same time, he called the position of our country unconstructive, and Ukraine’s statements about the International Olympic Committee’s support of war, killings and destruction are false.
Recall that earlier the General Assembly of the NOC of Ukraine supported the boycott of the Olympic Games-2024 in the case of the entry of the Russians.
