Down-the-line.com / Rhythmic Gymnastics. Former Russian gymnast and 2004 Olympic champion Alina Kabaeva has been placed on Canada’s sanctions list. Relevant information appeared on the country’s government website.

Canadian authorities added four Russian companies and 21 individuals to the new list, including Kabaeva. She ended up on the list because of possible ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Kabaeva included in UK sanctions list

Kabaeva is a two-time absolute world champion in rhythmic gymnastics. The former athlete was a deputy of the State Duma of the V and VI convocations. Since September 2014, she has been Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Media Group holding company. She also chairs the board of directors of Sport Express.
