Polish cyclist Marcin Polak has been stripped of his bronze medal at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games for an anti-doping rule violation, according to the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) website.
The International Cycling Union (UCI) announced that Polak had been suspended for four years for testing positive for erythropoietin in three doping tests carried out on May 19, July 31 and August 2, 2021.
The 39-year-old athlete’s period of suspension is counted from August 27, 2021. The results posted by the Pole from May 19 to August 27, 2021 have been cancelled.
Polak at the 2020 Paralympic Games won bronze in the individual pursuit in tandem with pilot Michal Lados. The prize will go to Frenchmen Alexandre Lloveras and Corentin Ermeno, who finished fourth.
