Thomas Bach believed that no one but him had the right to decide the fate of athletes from aggressor countries.

Thomas Bach criticized the decision of the governments of some countries to request the withdrawal of the Russians and Belarusians from the Olympics.

The President of the International Olympic Committee once again indicated that the fate of athletes from the aggressor countries depends on him alone.

He made such a statement during the Alpine Skiing World Championships in Courchevel.

“Governments do not need to decide who can participate in any sports competitions, because that would be the end of international sports competitions, world championships and the Olympic Games as we know them,” noted Bach France 24 said.

Moreover, the IOC president praised and even supported the Russians, saying “history will show who does more for the world.” After that, he explained his opinion, saying: “Those who try to keep the borders open and communicate. Or those who want to isolate and divide,” referring to Ukraine’s desire to punish athletes from aggressor countries.

It should be noted that earlier the leaders of 36 countries, during the meeting, came to the conclusion that there is no reason for the entry of Russians and Belarusians into international sports competitions.

In addition, the mayor of Paris, the capital of the future 2024 Olympics, also opposed such a decision by the IOC.

Recall that earlier Thomas Bach wrote a letter to the NOC of Ukraine, in which he threatened Ukrainian athletes with punishment for the boycott of the Olympic Games-2024.
