Journalists learned about the letter asking to influence the sports ministers of various states.

The IOC does not give up on the desire to return the Russians and Belarusians to the international arena. At the same time, the organization is concerned about the growing dissatisfaction on the part of many countries regarding such a decision.

Therefore, the International Olympic Committee decided to put pressure on the NOCs of some countries to change their position. According to Der Spiegel, IOC Director James Macleod has written letters to the NOCs of 35 countries to request the withdrawal of Russians and Belarusians from the 2024 Olympics.

“After the meeting of the sports ministers, we came to know of many false comments made in the meeting and then in the media, which distorted the results of the meeting itself.

We would like to urge you to contact your minister to ensure that he does not sign the declaration, or at least ensure that the wording reflects the position of the Olympic Movement as much as possible,” MacLeod said in a letter.

At the same time, at the moment, the complete list of countries in question is not known for certain. But among those who do not support the return of the aggressor countries are hegemons such as the USA, Great Britain, Germany, France, Poland, the Netherlands, Canada, Australia, Japan, as well as the Baltic and Scandinavian countries.

Recall that earlier the President of the IOC again came to the defense of the Russians and condemned the Ukrainians.
