Head coach of the Russian national cross-country team Yuri Borodavko said that the trainee in his group Artem Maltsev could become one of the strongest runners in the world.
World Championship silver medalist Maltsev joined the Borodavko group in the spring due to the departure of German coach Markus Kramer from Russia.
– Maltsev is very unhappy with this season because he is a very ambitious athlete. He is now at a rather serious age and has begun to understand that every year has to be with a serious point of growth in order to approach the Olympics in top form. The psychological state allows him to reach the level of the strongest runners in the world, Borodavko told .
Maltsev finished fourth in the marathon at the 2022 Olympics, fifth in the sprint and ninth in the skiathlon.
