The head of the UAF stressed that the participation of athletes of the aggressor country in international competitions poses a threat to all participants
President of the Ukrainian Football Association (UAF) Andrey Pavelko supported management and players Minaya after a conflict in Turkey with representatives of the Yaroslavl tire manufacturer.
“Yesterday in one of the Turkish hotels there was a clash between the football players of our Minay and the team from the “country 404″. The incident, of course, ended in victory for Ukraine and requires clear conclusions.”
“Firstly, I talked with the management of FC Minai. He assured that the UAF was ready to provide legal protection and any other support in connection with the provocation that representatives of the aggressor country had against the club’s players. In general, the UAF guarantees every Ukrainian football team, wherever it plays, its full support in the event of such incidents.”
“Secondly, I turned to the Turkish Football Federation with a persistent request to take measures to maximally isolate aggressive Russian football players, not only as far as possible from our teams, but also football players from other countries.
“In general, I think that all those who today allow themselves to think about the advisability of easing sports sanctions against Russians should pay attention to the situation with Minai. You can see that aggressive propaganda permeates literally all sectors of the society of the “country 404″. As a consequence, its athletes actually become a threat to others. The only way to ensure the safety of athletes in civilized countries is a complete international ban on Russians, including the 2024 Olympics in Paris! Glory to Ukraine!”
On Tuesday, information appeared in the media that the players of Minay had a fight with the players of the Yaroslavl tire manufacturer in the hotel. Later, Match TV reported that a number of representatives of the tire manufacturer had fractured fingers and ribs, and three Minai players were also injured. Journalist Roman Bebekh published a video of the fight between the teams.
Minai confirmed the fact of the conflict and, as a result, the fight. The Ukrainian club said that the cause of the skirmish was the behavior of the players of the Russian team in relation to the hotel worker and provocative exclamations towards the Transcarpathians. Also, representatives of Minay specified that the Russians continued to fight among themselves, so the Turkish police had to intervene.
