Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, President of the NOC of Ukraine Vadim Gutzeit commented a fight between the players of Minay and the Russian tire manufacturer during the training camp in Turkey.
“On February 13, 2023, during a training camp, there was a brawl between our players from the Uzhgorod Minai and the players from the Yaroslavl tire manufacturer, who lived in the same hotel.”
“On December 6, 1956, within the framework of the XVI Summer Olympic Games in the city of Melbourne (Australia), the most scandalous semi-final water polo match between the national teams of Hungary and the USSR took place, called “blood in the pool” (“match on bloody water”). The fight between the players continued with a bloody duel of thousands of fans.
“What do those who are considering the issue of admitting Russian and Belarusian athletes to international competitions and the 2024 Olympic Games want to see? Who will take responsibility for the safety of Ukrainian athletes and representatives of the aggressor countries.”
“Our position remains unchanged: the athletes of the aggressor countries should be barred from participating in international competitions in any status, even neutral.”
Recall that Minai confirmed the fact of the conflict and, as a result, a fight between the players of the Transcarpathian club with representatives of the Yaroslavl tire manufacturer.
Match-TV reported that a number of representatives of the tire manufacturer received fractures of fingers and ribs, and three players of Minay were also injured. Journalist Roman Bebekh published a video of the fight between the teams.
In turn, the clubs reacted differently to what happened. the tire manufacturer did not speak with an official position, and Minay announced the planned morning training session with the full squad of players.
