The ex-coach of Gornyakov says that it will be difficult for the Ukrainian team with Rennes
Former Shakhtar head coach Paulo Fonsecawhich now heads the French Lille, commented on the upcoming confrontation in the playoffs of the Europa League between the Pitmen and Rennes.
“It’ll be hard. In the spring in Ukraine, the season resumes with European cup matches. The team is not in the best physical shape and you are playing against opponents who have not stopped playing during the winter.”
“In Ukraine, winter is preparation. When I coached there, we tried to pick up the most competitive test matches in order to be ready from the first game, but this cannot be compared with official fights. When a Ukrainian team plays with another European team in February, they are never on an equal footing.”
The Shakhtar vs Rennes match will take place on February 16 in Warsaw at the Polish Army Stadium. The meeting starts at 19:45 Kyiv time. The fight will be judged by the Bosnian team of judges headed by Ilfan Pelto.
The second leg will take place in France on February 23. The match starts at 22:00 Kyiv time.
