Athletistic/ Others. State Duma Deputy of the Russian Federation Svetlana Zhurova reacted to the latest statements from the IOC headquarters.

Recall that the International Olympic Committee had indicated the day before that the demonstrators against the admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes to the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris were not thinking of infringing human rights.

Zhurova made it clear that she believes the IOC really wants to resolve the situation, taking into account the interests of the Olympic movement, but it is not so easy to do due to pressure from political structures.

“Apparently, the IOC sincerely thinks so. They are making these statements so that the athletes can prepare with peace of mind. No decision has been made about them. Everyone is running ahead of events. There is no decision, it’s still under discussion. And they’re already boycotting something. there’s a solution. And now what are they boycotting? They’re exerting pressure and it’s completely different. I think the IOC is now trying to keep some sort of supported position,” Zhurova, quoted by SE, stressed.
