Derrick James knows what the Brit needs to improve
Derrick Jamesthe new coach of the former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua said that with him the Briton won would WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO title holder Oleksandr Usyk.
“Would Joshua Usyk win if I worked with him? Yes, because I train two left-handed boxers. When I saw him fight Usyk, I thought, “What the hell is he doing?” I laughed.”
“Things you work on, you can’t see at first. Those nuances that you work on first are not even physical. You can’t even see them. These are really small details, but on their basis you develop. When you work specifically on one aspect, it benefits everything else.”
“Joshua and I spend time together, I listen to him and then we fill in the gaps that need to be filled.”
Recall that the new coach of the former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua became American Derrick James. He replaced Robert Garcia.
Last August, Usyk defeated Joshua by split decision to retain the WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO heavyweight titles.
The first fight after losing to Usyk will take place on April 1 at the O2 Arena in London. His opponent will be Jermain Franklin.
