Angelina beat the Russian in three sets
Ukrainian tennis player Angelina Kalinina advanced to the second round of the WTA 1000 tournament in Dubai (UAE).
In almost three hours, Kalinina beat the 11th racket of the world, Veronika Kudermetova. The Ukrainian managed to win in the first game, losing 0:2. Then she gave four of her serves at once and lost in the second set. In the decisive game, Angelina lost 4:5, but managed to win three games in a row and won the match.
Kalinina took revenge on Kudermetova for the defeat at the tournament in Linz in 2021. Angelina played her 17th match against a rival from the top 20 and won her sixth victory.
In the next round of the tournament, Kalinina will face another Ukrainian tennis player, Dayana Yastremska, who previously beat Alize Cornet.
Earlier, Marta Kostyuk entered the second round of the tournament in Dubai, who defeated Ipek Oz from Turkey in three sets. Today, another Ukrainian will play her match at the tournament – Katarina Zavatskaya.
