Winner of the Russian figure skating championship among juniors Alina Gorbacheva is not going to change sports citizenship, Sofya Fedchenko, the athlete’s coach, told Metaratings.ru.
Coach Evgeni Plushenko, after the end of the Russian youth championship, said that many skaters from his academy would most likely compete for other countries due to biased refereeing in domestic competitions. In Perm, Plushenko’s student Veronika Zhilina won silver, and Sofya Titova, who performed two triple axels and a quadruple salchow in the free skate, came fourth. Gorbachev won.
– You noted that Alina received offers from other countries. Can you name these countries?
I don’t see the point of discussing this subject. We’re not going anywhere.
What are your goals for the rest of the season? Can we already say that the season has been a success?
– The goal for the remainder of the season is to show two clear quadruple salchows in one program. Alina does a great job with this task in training, but at first it is always difficult for her psychologically, so she gets the first, then the second jump. We will try to land two. The season is not over yet to say it was a success. But most importantly, Alina’s dream came true – she became the champion of the country.
