On Tuesday, the head of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) Pozdnyakov said the EFC Congress had voted to terminate his powers within the organization early.
“Such decisions by the leaders of sports federations destroy the integrity of the international sports family. Representatives of many sports are subject to political influences, and fencing, unfortunately, is no exception.
Such actions harm the sport itself – it is impossible to deny Stanislav Pozdnyakov’s contribution to the development of fencing by removing him from the post of head of EFC.
Stanislav Alekseevich is an honored athlete, four-time Olympic champion, a capable and respected leader, he understands and shares the values of sport like no one else and, no doubt, will adhere to them in his future work as head of the Russian Olympic Committee Service of the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation.
Pozdnyakov has been leading EFC since 2016. In September last year, the Russian was re-elected to the position.
