Ukrainian will return at the end of spring
Ukrainian athlete Marina Bekh-Romanchuk explained why decided to end the performances of the winter season-2023.
“I perfectly understand that for me the summer season is a priority, as well as the fact that I should be ready and healthy in the summer. Winter isn’t worth it to take some massive damage right now that would take months of cooldown. And so we immediately decided that we would not jump further. And after the competition at the hotel we discussed the whole situation and decided that it would be better to stay and still do as we originally planned.
“Now we have done all the examinations, thank God, there is nothing to worry about. There is no damage to the heel: there is a slight inflammation. You just need to give the muscles and connections where there is inflammation a little respite. Therefore, we allocate this week completely for treatment. We remove almost all physical overload. We are treated and do all the procedures assigned to us. I think that from the beginning of next week we will start preparing for the summer season.”
“I will already compete in late spring – early summer. Somewhere there roughly will be my start. And in early March, we will clearly navigate the preparations for the summer. We can say that everything happened as originally planned. We just changed our plans at some point and decided to jump this winter. But it seems to me that someone knows a little better, and I always say: “Everything that doesn’t happen, everything is for the better!”.
Bekh-Romanchuk ended her performance at the 2023 winter season competitions due to a foot injury. The Ukrainian was injured at the World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold tournament in Leuven (France). There she won bronze in the triple jump with a score of 14.01 m.
The main start of the winter athletics season is the 2023 European Indoor Championships in Istanbul, which will be held March 2-5.
