Russian team in artistic gymnastics is ready to participate in the Asian Championship, which will qualify for the 2026 Olympics, the national team’s head coach told Valentina Rodionenko.
The 2023 European Championship should be held in April in Turkey, the World Championship – in September-October in Belgium. Continental competitions will become qualifiers for participation in the Olympic Games – the strongest gymnasts will continue to be selected for the Games at the World Championships. The Asian Championship is scheduled for May-June 2023.
“There will be a selection for the Olympic Games in Asia, we are ready to participate in it,” Rodionenko told .
The Paris Summer Olympics will take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
In February 2022, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended that sports federations prevent Russian and Belarusian athletes from competing due to the situation in Ukraine. At the end of January, the IOC announced that it would consider the possibility of allowing Russians and Belarusians who did not actively support the SVO to participate in international competitions in a neutral status.
