Athletistic/ Figure Skating. One of Russia’s most famous figure skaters is Kamila Valieva. She started showing very good results in the 2020/2021 season. Valieva then became the second in the Russian Championship and won the final of the Russian Cup. However, she could not go to international competitions, as she was 14 years old.

At the same time, in the 2021/2022 season, Kamila Valieva’s results became even better. She was out of competition in almost every start. An important event took place at the end of December. Kamila Valieva won the title of champion of Russia. It allowed him to get a ticket for international competitions. In January, the European Championship took place in Tallinn, the capital of Estonia. His Kamila Valieva also won.

In February, there were the main sports competitions of last year. The Winter Olympics were held in Beijing. The start was quite positive. The Russian figure skating team won gold, and Kamila Valieva became the first in the short and free programs.

However, something terrible happened after that. It turned out that in the doping test that Kamila Valieva passed in December 2021, there are traces of a prohibited substance. In this regard, incredible pressure began to be exerted on her. Subsequently, the CAS allowed the Russian woman to participate in individual competitions. However, she could not fully cope with the nerves and only became the fourth.

Subsequently, Russian athletes were excluded from international competitions for political reasons. Therefore, you can watch internal competitions. Kamila Valieva plays there. This season she won the stages of the Russian Grand Prix in Moscow and Kazan, and also became the second in the Russian Championship in Krasnoyarsk.

For a year, Kamila Valieva has been under investigation. Recently, RUSADA delivered its verdict. The Disciplinary Committee found the athlete innocent. At the same time, she was stripped of the title of champion of Russia, the gold passed to Alexandra Trusova. RUSADA proceeded from the fact that in December 2021 there were banned substances in the doping test, but the doping tests at the European Championship and the Olympic Games were clean.

WADA disagreed with RUSADA’s verdict and appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on Tuesday, February 21. The organization demands the suspension of Kamila Valieva for four years. Today, February 22, the International Skating Union (ISU) also went to court.

Czech figure skating fans have reacted to the news of Kamila Valieva’s case. They left comments on Sport.cz (translated by Inoprosport). Many Czechs remembered that there was information that the substance could have entered the body of the Russian figure skater from the pills that her grandfather takes.

Pavel Horak:

– Is it important now? Anyway, the Russians will not be able to participate anywhere for ten years. And in Russia they can accept everything.

With Pavel:

– It seems WADA wants to make Valieva’s case demonstrative.

Petr Resl:

-Lesson for the future: Never eat Grandpa’s pills!

Irena Viskova:

– It seems that the discussion, which should be devoted to the possible sanction of the Russian figure skater for doping, turns into a political showdown.

Lucia Beckova:

– Four years of disqualification will put an end to his career. Now figure skaters win mostly before the age of 17-18, and after that they become less flexible and plastic, and difficult jumps become more problematic. That’s why she cried so much when she didn’t win the Olympics at 15.

Pavel Drozd:

– If she has knowingly doped, the sanction must be in accordance with the established rules. But I don’t remember anyone getting a four-year ban for their first anti-doping rule violation. It’s already a witch hunt.

With Pavel:

– It’s fair to penalize doping, but I hope they will do the same with various asthmatics on the other side of the barricade.

Petr Vana:

Why did his grandfather dope?
