Ukraine will boycott the world boxing championships for men and women

The reason is the admission of athletes from Russia and Belarus to the tournament

Team of Ukraine boxing will not compete in world championships among men and women in 2023. The Ukrainian team will boycott both tournaments due to the admission of athletes from Russia and Belarus.

“Our answer is clear: our athletes and representatives of the Boxing Federation of Ukraine do not perform where representatives of the aggressor countries will compete – these are Russia and Belarus.

The main position is: as long as the war is going on and as long as Russian troops are on the territory of our state, they all appeal that they will not compete, ”said Oleg Ilchenko, vice president of the Boxing Federation of Ukraine.

Previously, the Polish team refused to participate in the competition. The Czech Republic, Canada and Sweden have also boycotted the World Cup.

In turn, the British team announced that it would boycott the women’s world championship, and the US boxing team refused to participate in the women’s and men’s world championships.

The 2023 Women’s Boxing World Cup will be held in Delhi (India) from March 15 to 25, and the 2023 Men’s Boxing World Cup is scheduled from May 1 to 14 in Tashkent (Uzbekistan).

Recall that the International Olympic Committee has decided to remove the IBA from holding a boxing tournament at the 2024 Olympics.
