Athletistic/Figure Skating. Veronika Loginova, director general of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA), expressed the opinion that issuing a warning could be a reasonable punishment for figure skater Kamila Valieva, despite the fact that the team of the athlete could not prove the total absence of guilt in violation of the anti-doping rules.

Rodnina on the case of Valieva: “The IOC, WADA and RUSADA compete in stupidity”

Previously, the Anti-Doping Disciplinary Commission (DAK) ruled that Valieva violated anti-doping rules, but did not see her culpability and negligence in this regard.

“After considering the reasoning behind the decision in this case, rendered by an independent anti-doping dispute resolution body, RUSADA has decided to exercise its right to appeal this decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). high international profile associated with this case, RUSADA does not distinguish it in any way from other anti-doping rule violation cases in order to ensure equal treatment of all persons covered by the World Anti-Doping Code and to protect the interests and rights of all Russian Athletes. Having studied the reasons for the decision, RUSADA believes that the sporting party has not been able to prove, at the level established by the regulations, the complete absence of its guilt. As at the stage of presentation of the case to the DAK, RUSADA is convinced that the athlete is guilty of breaking the rules, but this is minimal, and a warning could be a reasonable sanction.

At this stage, RUSADA does not have the right to comment on the merits of the case under consideration, therefore, it cannot disclose the reasons for its position and the sanction requested. RUSADA’s reasoned position was submitted to CAS for an objective and impartial review by the arbitrators. The uncompromising fight against doping and the protection of the health of athletes are the main values of RUSADA, which are implemented within the framework of the All-Russian Anti-Doping Rules, the World Anti-Doping Code and international standards,” TASS quotes Loginova.
