Athletes from aggressor countries unitedly rushed to avoid sanctions rather than oppose the Kremlin.

Athletes from Russia and Belarus seem to realize that supporting the Kremlin’s actions in Ukraine will cost them their careers. But instead of speaking out against the unleashed war, they, following the example of their leadership, began to look for ways to avoid sanctions.

As told to Interfax in the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Kazakhstan, after the ban on participation in international competitions, athletes from aggressor countries began to apply in bulk to Kazakh sports organizations with the request to welcome them to this country’s national team. .

At the same time, the department reported that they had not received written applications from athletes regarding the change of citizenship. However, there are verbal requests that cannot be considered “official”.

At the same time, the ministry stressed that “the issue of enrollment of athletes from the aforementioned countries in the national team of Kazakhstan is not considered by the Ministry of Culture and Sports.”

Recall that after Russia, with the support of Belarus, invaded Ukraine on February 24, international sporting organizations began to extensively remove athletes from these countries from competitions. At the same time, most Russian and Belarusian athletes support the killing of civilians in Ukraine by Kremlin troops.
