Arteta: Today we wanted to win for Zinchenko and all the people in Ukraine

Nice gesture from the London club

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta after a minimal victory over Leicester (1:0) in the 25th round of the Premier League, he spoke about support for the Ukrainian people and the defender of the Gunners – Alexander Zinchenko.

“We wanted to win for him, for his family and loved ones, and for all the people in Ukraine who inspire the world with this fighting spirit that they have been showing for more than a year,” Arteta said.

Ukrainian defender of Arsenal Alexander Zinchenko came out in the starting lineup with the captain’s armband. Thus, the London club supported Alexander on the anniversary of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.

In total, Zinchenko has one goal and one assist in 21 matches for the Gunners in all tournaments of the current season.

Arsenal continue to lead the Premier League table with 57 points. In the next round, Arteta’s wards will play Ukrainian Vitaliy Mykolenko’s Everton on March 1.
