The Russian Chess Federation moved to the Asian Chess Federation

29 out of 36 delegates voted for the inclusion of the Russians

Russian Chess Federation (FSR) moved to Asian Chess Federation (ACF). The delegates of the ACF General Assembly voted for the inclusion of the FSR in the organization.

Voting took place today in Abu Dhabi. 29 delegates voted for the inclusion of the FSR, 1 voted against, 6 abstained.

Earlier it was reported that the Council of the International Chess Federation (FIDE) agreed on the decision of the FSR to move to the ACF.

Recall that all Russian chess players who want to change their “sport citizenship” and move to one of the European countries will be able to do this under a simplified procedure. They will be allowed to compete for the new country from the day after the application is submitted without any restrictions.

In 2022, FIDE suspended the national teams of Russia and Belarus from international competitions, and also took away the World Chess Olympiad-2022 from the Russian Federation. Later, FIDE allowed athletes from Russia and Belarus to compete in international tournaments under the flag of the organization until December 31, 2022.
