Former coach of the double world junior figure skating champion Elena Radionova and four-time Russian champion Maxim Kovtun Inna Goncharenko in an interview with explained why she stopped working with the CSKA school.
Goncharenko stopped working with CSKA in 2018.
– By the way, I still don’t understand – how come you left CSKA?
– And I didn’t just leave CSKA – I basically finished coaching at a serious competitive level. The situation worsened for a long time, and at some point I realized that all this was just threatening my health. There was a choice – and what am I working for?
It’s just, you know, I really don’t like betrayal. Especially when your loved ones betray you and the athletes you spend so much time with become like that. And when you see people, like chameleons, start to change before your eyes… You can feel it with your whole body.
Up to a point, you live with it all, set goals. I set myself some criteria, I ended the affair and I left. My conscience was absolutely clear. In the conditions in which I worked, I think the result was always there.
– In what sense – “treason”?
– In the most direct way. When a person begins to choose what is more important to them – relationships or material wealth, etc. You then realize that you are being sold for nothing and you ask yourself the question, “Do you even want to be sold?” I didn’t want to. I don’t want to get personal. take care of my business and my problems.
