Tsurenko: Almost all the girls in Monterrey complained about the problem with the balls

The organization of tournaments has a number of problems

Ukrainian tennis player Lesya Tsurenko commented on her withdrawal from the tournament in Mexico. The athlete said that her game was affected not only by a chronic elbow injury, but also by problems with the organization.

“Two tournaments, two different brands of balls. And chronic injuries, in principle, are very responsive to such things, and my elbow is chronic, although it has not bothered me since the beginning of the year.

“Plus, at the second tournament in Monterrey, there were very heavy balls – in combination with the coating, they turned into “fluffy” stones. I’m not the only one – in fact all the girls complained about it, but some have worse with it, some have it better.

“I raised this issue at the tournament. I think that this should not happen – this is in the interests of the players, and our organization should somehow change this. A series of tournaments in the United States – in Indian Wells and Miami – should have one ball so that there are no such problems.

“Believe me, everyone I spoke to in Monterrey talked about shoulder problems, so my injury reacted immediately. I played two matches, and in the third it was generally bad. However, I know myself well, I can understand when to stop, take a step back, give my hand a rest so that everything is fine before the next tournament.

Tsurenko at the WTA tournament in Monterrey starred in the first round. Lesya did not finish the meeting with Donna Vekic due to an elbow injury.

Earlier, Tsurenko was also unable to finish the match of the first round of the tournament in Mexican Merida. At the beginning of the second game of the duel with Katerina Sinyakova from the Czech Republic, the Ukrainian refused to fight due to a foot injury.
