Two Ukrainian athletes climbed the podium of the European championship.
Ukrainian Yaroslava Maguchy won the gold medal in the high jump at the 2023 European Athletics Indoor Championships in Istanbul.
Ukrainians in full force qualified and became three of the eight participants in the final. In the decisive stage of the competition, Ukraine was represented by Yaroslav Maguchy, Yulia Levchenko and Kateryna Tabashnik.
In the final, Maguchih successfully defended the title of current European Indoor Champion. The Ukrainian athlete on the first attempt took a height of 1.98 m, which was enough to win the gold medal. The representative of the Netherlands, Brit Woermann, did not submit on this bar, and he became the second with a result of 1.96 m.
Tabashnik jumped 1.94 meters on his first attempt, which allowed him to get the bronze medal. Levchenko, this height was submitted only on the third attempt.
