Midfielder of Benfica Joao Mario became the first player to score five penalties V Champions League for one season.

The midfielder converted a 11-meter throw in the second leg of the 1/8 finals with Brugge (5:1). The goal was the fourth for Lisbon in the match. Before the Portuguese, five players scored four penalties each – Arturo Vidal, Thomas Muller, Robert Lewandowski, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi twice.

The 30-year-old midfielder has played 38 games for the Orlovs in all competitions this season. Mario scored 20 goals and provided 11 assists.

Benfica beat Brugge Ukrainian Roman Yaremchuk on aggregate (5:1 and 2:0). Lisbon will recognize their opponent in the quarter-finals after the draw on March 17th.
