Ukraine stopped a step away from reaching the World Cup
Former head coach of the Ukrainian national team Andrey Shevchenko spoke about the national team, which today lost to Wales (0:1) and did not reach the World Cup. According to him, he is proud of the players and fans of the national team.
“With your head held high and incredible pride. I am infinitely proud of the Ukrainian national football team and our most devoted fans in the world. You proved that we will always fight to the end without feeling sorry for ourselves. Not everything in life is determined by the result. We move together to the next victories. Glory to Ukraine,” Shevchenko wrote on Instagram.
The only goal of the meeting was scored by Andriy Yarmolenko, sending the ball into the net of his own goal. On June 1, Alexander Petrakov’s team beat Scotland (3:1) in the semi-finals of the qualification. The Wales national team had previously dealt with Austria (2:1).
At the World Cup in Qatar, Wales will play in the same group with England, the USA and Iran.
