Taras played 380 matches for the Pitmen

Midfielder of Shakhtar Taras Stepanenko entered the top 5 players in the history of the club in terms of the number of matches played.

A record for the midfielder was the game with Feyenoord in the 1/8 finals of the Europa League. In total, Stepanenko played 380 matches for the Donetsk club, ahead of the legendary goalkeeper Yuriy Degterev.

Stepanenko is ahead of another active Shakhtar player Andriy Pyatov (481 matches), as well as Serhiy Yashchenko (444), Mikhail Sokolovsky (485) and absolute record holder Darijo Srna (536).

The 33-year-old midfielder has one goal and two assists in 23 games for the Pitmen in all competitions this season.

Shakhtar played a draw with Feyenoord in the first leg of the 1/8 finals of the EL (1:1). The return match will take place on March 16. In the UPL standings, Igor Jovićević’s team is in second place.
