Boxing Night – May 6
Undisputed World Super Middleweight Champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (58-2-2, 39 KOs) officially agreed to hold the fight with the mandatory contender for the WBO belt John Ryder (32-5, 18 KOs).
The evening of boxing will take place on May 6th. The fight will take place in Mexico’s Guadalajara, Jalisco, at Akron Stadium.
On the night of September 18 last year, Alvarez defeated Gennady Golovkin by unanimous decision and defended his titles. All judges gave Canelo the win – 116-112, 115-113, 115-113.
John Ryder in his last fight ahead of schedule defeated his compatriot Zach Parker and became the “interim” WBO super middleweight champion.
After a sing with Ryder, Canelo is looking for a rematch with WBA light heavyweight title holder Dimitri Bivol. The second duel between Alvarez and the Russian is planned to be organized in September. Recall that in May 2022, Alvarez suffered a second defeat in his career, losing to Bivol in the fight for the world light heavyweight title.
