International Criminal Court issues arrest warrant for Russian President Putin

He is charged with responsibility for war crimes committed in Ukraine

Pretrial Chamber II International Criminal Court issued a warrant for Arrest of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The President of the Russian Federation is charged with responsibility for war crimes committed in Ukraine. In particular, Putin is suspected of the crimes of illegal deportation and transfer of children from the occupied territories of Ukraine to Russia. A similar arrest warrant was also issued to Maria Lvova-Belova, the authorized representative of the President of the Russian Federation for children’s affairs.

In fact, now the president of Russia has the official status of a suspect in an international crime. This means that outside the Russian Federation, Putin should be arrested and taken to court.

“There are reasonable grounds to believe that each suspect is responsible for the war crime of illegal deportation that harmed Ukrainian children,” the court said in a press release.

Early on the morning of February 24, 2022, Russia launched rocket and air strikes on most Ukrainian cities and then launched a full-scale military invasion. Russia’s war against Ukraine continues for the 387th day.
