The current Uno world champion suffered an injury in training ahead of the World Championships short program in Saitama

Reigning Japanese World Champion Shoma Uno was injured during training at the World Figure Skating Championships in Saitama (Japan), according to the Kyodo agency.

Uno fell on Wednesday and injured his ankle. According to a spokesperson for the Japan Skating Federation, the 25-year-old skater “expects to be fine the next day”.

The men will present the short program at the World Championships on Thursday, the free program on Saturday.

Uno is a world champion, Olympic silver and bronze medalist. Last December, the Japanese became the winner of the Grand Prix Final for the first time in his career.
