Three-time Olympic champion Alexander Bolshunov could once participate in a biathlon race, but he will professionally engage only in cross-country skiing, the coach of the Russian national team said in an interview with Yuri Borodavko .
Biathlete Ekaterina Noskova and skier Alena Perevozchikova took second place in the KhMAO team in the team freestyle sprint at the Russian Championships in Tyumen. Earlier, Noskova (1 minute 35.6 seconds behind first place) and fellow biathlete Elizaveta Kaplina (+2.13.7) took 21st and 33rd places in the 10km freestyle time trial.
– Do you really need such experience when biathletes periodically compete in cross-country skiing and even win medals? Or should everyone mind their own business?
Skiing and biathlon are related sports. In cross-country skiing, biathletes and biathletes can improve their functional qualities, test their skiing skills. I only rejoice in it. We can not only compete together, but also conduct joint training, as was the case in Soviet times.
– And if Bolshunov wants to try his hand at biathlon, allow me?
– You can try anything. However, any sport requires total dedication and complete immersion in the process. In biathlon, you must first have very good shooting skills, not to mention skiing skills, which they also have very well. To reach the level of our modern biathletes in shooting, one year is not enough. I think that Alexander will be engaged only in cross-country skiing. If you try your hand at biathlon in a show race for a change, that will be nice, of course. But no serious competitions, – said Borodavko in an interview with .
