“Any decision of the IOC Executive Committee on the admission of Russians is unlikely to satisfy one of the parties” – skier Stepanova

Olympic cross-country skiing champion Veronika Stepanova expressed its expectations vis-à-vis the Executive Committee of the International Olympic Committee (IOC ), which intends to discuss the issue of the admission of Russians to international competitions.

The IOC Executive Committee meeting will be held from March 28 to 30. On Tuesday, the executive committee will discuss the results of consultations with the sports community regarding the admission of Russians and Belarusians to international competitions. The IOC has clarified that Russian participation in the 2024 Olympics in Paris will not be discussed at the executive committee meeting.

In February 2022, the IOC recommended that Russians should not be allowed to participate in international competitions. In January 2023, the IOC announced that it would consider the possibility of admitting Russian and Belarusian athletes to international departures in a neutral status, who did not actively support the SVO.
