The Executive Committee of the International Olympic Committee issued a provisional decision on athletes from aggressor countries.

The IOC disallowed Russians and Belarusians from the 2024 Olympics. For now. The fact is that at its Executive Committee on March 28, the International Olympic Committee did not even discuss this issue.

At the same time, another important decision was made. The committee recommended that international sports federations return Russian and Belarusian athletes to international competitions. This is stated on the IOC website.

At the same time, some requirements were made public for athletes from aggressor countries to be returned to competitions:

1. Athletes with Russian or Belarusian passports compete only as neutral individual athletes.

2. Teams are still prohibited from performing.

3. Athletes who actively support the war may not compete. Personnel actively supporting the war may not perform.

4. All Russian and Belarusian servicemen are not allowed to speak. Personnel subject to such conditions must also participate.

5. Every athlete must comply with all anti-doping rules.

6. Sanctions remain against governments and states. No competitions in the Russian Federation or the Republic of Belarus may take place.

7. The prohibition of the appearance of any symbols of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus at all events, including in the stands.

8. No politician (member of government or state apparatus) of Russia and Belarus may be invited to such international competitions.

At the same time, the IOC reported that they are not abandoning their idea of accepting Russians and Belarusians at the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

“The IOC will make this decision at the appropriate time, at its own discretion and without reference to the results of previous Olympic qualification competitions,” the committee said in a statement.

Recall that earlier the Olympic champion and people’s representative Jean Beleniuk called the possible entry of the Russians into the Olympic Games as a diplomatic defeat of Ukraine.
