The country’s Prime Minister considers the International Olympic Committee’s decision a betrayal.
Russians and Belarusians should not be in international sports, and there is no point in looking for good people among them who do not support the war. This is how they think in Poland.
Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said that the Poles will not follow the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee on the entry of athletes from aggressor countries.
“The decision of the IOC to return Russian athletes to the competition is a scandal and a betrayal of the true spirit of sport. I have instructed the Minister of Sports and Tourism, Kamil Bortnichuk, to inform the leadership of the IOC of our strong disagreement . We will do everything we can to keep the sport free from Russian influence,” wrote head of the Polish government.
Recall that earlier the decision of the IOC on the entry of the Russians into the competition refused to comply with the International Biathlon Union.
