The defender notes the difference in the style of Spanish and Ukrainian football
Defender Metalista Roberto Corral spoke about how he accepted the offer of the Kharkov club.
“In February, I terminated the contract with the Crown by mutual agreement and returned to Spain to continue training and free my mind for a couple of weeks. Then they told me that Metallist was interested in me. I knew about this club, it has a good reputation and name in Europe. I also consider the UPL to be one of the best leagues in Europe, so at a sporting level I really wanted to come here to continue to enjoy football and develop.”
“The only problem was that I was a little scared by the situation in Ukraine because of the war. But they explained to me in detail how it works, they told me that the matches are held with the maximum observance of security measures, and I was able to come here a couple of days before signing the contract to make sure. Everything really looked very nice and comfortable.”
“The Spaniards are very comfortable in their native country because of the climate, the language, the competition. They usually don’t like the idea of leaving that comfort zone. I also think that the style of football in Ukraine is very different from Spanish. Here it is more physical and technical, while in Spain it is tactical and technical. Fortunately, I lived in Poland for a year, was able to gain experience playing outside the home and was able to appreciate many nuances, both at the sporting level and in life. As far as I understand, in everyday terms Ukraine and Poland are quite close, and football in these countries is similar.”
Earlier it was reported that Kharkiv announced the 24-year-old Spaniard for the spring part of the UPL. In the new club, the defender will play under the 33rd number.
Metalist is 15th in the Premier League with 17 points. In the next match, the team of Peritsa Ognenovich will meet Kolos on April 1.
