14th title of the people of Kiev in the national championship
Falcon snatched the win in overtime Kremenchug in the decisive fifth match of the final Ukrainian ice hockey championship and won the title.
The Kievans had the opportunity to take the lead at the end of the second period, having thrown the puck at the same time as the siren. However, the referees did not count the goal, having already established during the break that the puck crossed the goal line later than the siren. Kremenchuk had his chance, but Sokol’s goalkeeper Bogdan Dyachenko saved Bogdan Serednitsky’s free throw.
Regular time ended with no goals scored. Only in the second overtime at the 97th minute of the match Sergei Babinets managed to score a goal, which became “gold”.
Sokol won the championship series with a score of 3:2. Kievans become champions of Ukraine for the second season in a row. For the team, this is the 14th title in the Ukrainian championship.
