The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has decided to ban Ukrainian athletes from participating in tournaments where Russians and Belarusians are allowed.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) commented on the Government’s decision regarding the ban. According to the organization, this decision will only harm the Ukrainian society.

“If such a decision is implemented, it will only harm the sports community of Ukraine and will not affect the war that the world wants to stop and that the IOC strongly condemns. Athletes can compete in international competitions. “

“Due to the fact that unfortunately there are so many wars, armed conflicts and crises in the world, we have seen in almost every Games that athletes compete with each other, despite the fact that their countries are in a state of war or conflict..”, the statement said.
