Ukrainians scored more points than their rivals, but took second place in the group
Ukrainian women’s volleyball team didn’t go to Euroleague Golden Final Four at the end of the group stage, despite the fact that she scored more points than her rivals.
Ukraine finished the group stage with two wins and eight points. Romania beat Hungary today (25:20, 25:21, 25:13) and won the third victory in Group C. The Romanians have seven points.
According to the rules of the tournament, when distributing places, first the number of victories is taken into account, and then the number of points and other indicators. Thus, Romania finished first in the group and advanced to the Final Four thanks to more wins.
Ukraine can play in the Final Four only if the decisive stage of the tournament is hosted by one of the winning countries of the group stage. Then the best team among the second-place winners will become the fourth participant in the Final Four – the Ukrainian team is still in the lead in this rating.
It should be noted that the Final Four of the current Women’s Golden Euroleague was supposed to be held in Zaporozhye, but due to the full-scale invasion of Russian troops in Ukraine, the venue of the tournament had to be changed.
