Former Spain midfielder Luis Garcia became the new head coach Hispaniola.
The mentor signed a contract until the summer of 2024. On Tuesday, the first training session under the guidance of the new coach and the official presentation are scheduled.
Garcia led semi-professional clubs Damm and Madrid Internacional. This season, Madrid were in second place in Tercera Group 7, the fifth strongest division in Spain.
As a player, Garcia played for Espanyol from 2005 to 2011, with which he won the 2006 Copa del Rey. He has seven caps for the Spanish national team.
Espanyol have sacked manager Diego Martinez. The team has lost their last four matches in La Liga. In the last round, Martinez’s wards lost to Girona Ukrainian Victor Tsygankov (1:2).
Espanyol are 18th in La Liga with 27 points. In the next match, the Parrots will host Athletic on April 8.
