“Cowards will be tough.” The VFLA chief spoke about the difficulties faced by the figure skater during the athletics tournament

2022 Olympics silver medalist in figure skating Alexandra Trousova will face difficulties in the long jump tournament, the head of the All-Russian Athletics Federation (VFLA) tells RBC Sport Irina Privalova .

The fact that Trusova will perform at Moscow Athletics Week in the long jump discipline was announced by the VFLA on June 3.

“Of course, it will be difficult for her. You have to hit the bar, run, after all, the specifics of the skates are a little different: the techniques of repulsion in figure skating and in track and field are slightly different. But even it is interesting what will become of it.

We have a large number of athletic specialists working in other sports, including figure skating. Figure skaters are very well trained, I myself was involved in figure skating when I was a kid, so I know what it’s like. This combination came out of it, – said Privalova.

Trusova started an open training session at 10:40 (Moscow time) with the participation of Olympic champion Irina Privalova and honored coach of Russia Evgeny Ter-Avanesov. At 11:00 a.m., she will start the competition for juniors (under 20).
