“World Aquatics will decide too late on the admission of the Russian team to participate in the 2023 World Cup” – Brusnikina

The president of the Russian Federation of Synchronized Swimming, Olga Brusnikina, told that the decision on the possible admission of the Russians would be taken too late to participate in the World Aquatic Championships in Fukuoka.

The Bureau of the International Swimming Federation (World Aquatics) has decided to create a working group, which in July will announce a report on the admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes to international competitions. The world championship also starts in July.

– To be honest, I expected more specific decisions, but judging by the last statement, we are again awaiting the criteria for admission to competitions under the auspices of World Aquatics. In fact, nothing has changed for us now, the participation ban remains in force.

The decision will be taken too late to be able to apply for the World Cup, because it already starts in July. In addition, we also need to have time to study the solutions that will be proposed by the working group and accepted by the World Aquatics office. Therefore, the chances of participating in the World Championship in Fukouka are very low, Brusnikina told .

Russian athletes have been suspended from performances under the auspices of the organization amid the situation in Ukraine.
