“You don’t have to be tall to be good at the long jump” – Chen

European long jump indoor runner-up Yolanda Chen has shared her expectations for the upcoming performance of the 2022 Olympics figure skater silver medalist Alexandra Trousova in athletics.

On June 3, VFLA confirmed reports that Trusova will take part in Moscow Athletics Week in the long jump discipline. Jump day is scheduled for June 9.

– You don’t have to be tall to show good results in the long jump. This guy involves completely different girls. Yes, there are wonderful tall athletes, like American Britney Reese and Yulimar Rojas. But the world record holder Galina Chistyakova is even a little shorter than me, and I am short. The same Tanya Skachko, bronze medalist of the Olympic Games, was quite short. They called it “ball”. A good take-off speed is important for us, and it is precisely the ability to push, this same ability – including natural – to jump. Therefore, little girls also show good results if they are talented, Chen said in an interview with RT.

Trusova is a 2021 World Championship bronze medalist, double European Championship bronze medalist (2020, 2022), double junior world champion (2018, 2019). At the 2022 Olympics, she was the first in history to be able to perform five quadruple jumps in a free program without falling.
