Ukrainian handball champion “Motor” from Zaporozhye will participate next season in the 2nd Bundesliga as a guest club, league president Uwe Schwenker has said.
– It was clear to us that the clubs had to decide democratically on this issue. In the end, a clear majority voted in favor of admission. The clubs said: we help handball players, says Schwenker, quoted by Sky Sport Germany .
The idea of integrating the Ukrainian champion into the German championship was born a few weeks ago. According to Schwenker, the right to start in the Bundesliga has been ruled out because teams already playing there have too tight schedules.
Motor has won the Ukrainian Championship nine times (2013-2021), the Ukrainian Cup six times (2013, 2015-2019) and the country’s Super Cup four times (2015-2018). Four times the team won the USSR championship, three times the champion of the Ukrainian SSR.
