General Director of the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR) Alexander Kogan described the congress of the International Skating Union (ISU) as “very politicized”, but he believes in a change of situation.
The ISU Congress concluded its work on June 10 in Phuket. The former president of the South Korean Skating Union, son-in-law of Samsung Group chairman Jae Yol Kim, has been elected as the new ISU president.
“Unfortunately, this congress turned out to be very politicized. However, we remain hopeful that the situation will change,” Kogan told RIA Novosti Sport.
Russian Alexander Kibalko has joined the ISU Council among the speed skating representatives.
Earlier, the ISU Congress extended until further notice the suspension of Russians and Belarusians from participating in competitions under the organization’s auspices.
