Russian representatives were not included in the updated composition of the International Skating Union (ISU) technical committees in figure skating. The committee elections took place on the last day of the organisation’s congress, which is taking place in Phuket.
American Shawn Rettstatt took over from Poland’s Galina Gordon-Poltorak as chair of the Ice Dance Technical Committee, which she chaired for 12 years. Before voting began, Gordon-Poltorak withdrew her candidacy and Rettstatt was automatically declared the winner. Hillary Selby (Great Britain), David Molina (France) and Ingrid Charlotte Wolter (Germany) were elected members of the technical committee.
Frenchman Philippe Maitreau was elected president of the synchronized skating technical committee, Petra Turbo (Sweden), Lois Long (USA) and Nina Biskhoff (Switzerland) became members of the committee. Russian Ulyana Chirkova took last place in the vote.
Italian Fabio Bianchetti was re-elected as head of the technical committee for singles and pairs skating. Lena Laksonen (Finland), Yukiko Okabe (Japan), Emily Billow (Sweden) and Susan Lynch (Australia) were elected as members. Russian Yulia Andreeva did not go to the technical committee.
Previously, Russia was represented on the technical committee for single and pair skating – the 2014 Olympic champion Fedor Klimov was a member of it.
