“The change of nationality was only brought up as a joke.” Future dentist Miller talks about his victory at the Luzhniki Stadium and the difficulty of studying at a medical university

Polina Miller commented on the victory with a score of 50.88 in the 400 meters on “Sprint Day” as part of Luzhniki Athletics Week.

The victory was won in the fight with Ekaterina Renzhina, who ran to the finish line, but lost to Miller (51.01). After the races, Polina appreciated the result, and also told how difficult it is to combine studying at a medical university with training. She admitted the citizenship change speech was just a joke.

– Did you understand that it would turn out to trade 51 seconds?

– Yes I understood. This result is pretty much what I expected on first start.

– From an execution point of view, did everything go according to plan?

– I haven’t spoken to the coach yet, I don’t know the route, but I felt like I was running quietly, without traffic jams, at the finish I didn’t “put” more than habit.

– Late start of the season, what is the reason?

– I passed the session, it turned out to be “excellent”.

– Studying as a dentist is a rare choice for an athlete, how difficult is it to reconcile non-athletic university and sport?

– I followed in my father’s footsteps, he is also a dentist. Now the fourth year, it is very difficult to combine. I only know of isolated cases where people have successfully combined medical school with sports. It is indeed very difficult.

– What do you have to sacrifice?

– Partially – a kind of training camp, competitions. The coach and I prioritize, work out the starts, where exactly we need to be, and from there we look at when I can leave the house and when I can’t. Now, when the session is over, I will start all the competitions that I can.

– There was no doubt, thoughts to choose studies, not sports?

– Sport is what I live for, and the rest is already being adjusted. It may be wrong to say it, but sport, of course, is a priority. And even despite the political problems, the impossibility of starting in international tournaments, this spark in me will not go out for a very long time. Above all, I want to realize myself and show what I am capable of.

– With your German roots and your parents in Germany, have you ever thought about changing your nationality?

“We talked about it several times as a joke, but nothing more.

– Do you see the result of 50 seconds in your performance this summer?

– Let’s not guess, I don’t like it, but of course I would like to improve on the results of the previous year.
